I’m Dave Sampson,I live in Airlie Beach (I mean it's pretty magical right) not because I planned to, but because I came up for a holiday back in 2014 and just... kept coming back. A few months of going back and forth and eventually I stopped pretending I was ever going to leave. The Whitsundays have a way of doing that to people.
Before this became my career, photography was just something I did for myself. No grand plan, no lightbulb moment (Just a few bald moments). I just kept picking up the camera, kept getting better, kept caring more. Eventually it stopped being a hobby and started being the thing I was most serious about.
These days I photograph weddings but honestly, the part I love most isn't really about photography. It's the people. It's sitting with a couple and feeling them relax because they realise I'm not going to make things awkward or overly produced. I want you to feel like you're hanging out with a mate who happens to be really good at this.
When I'm not working, you'll probably find me at the gym, deep in a book about consciousness or personal growth, or catching up with mates over coffee. Speaking of if we ever grab one together, mine's a lactose free cappuccino with chocolate sprinkles on top. Non-negotiable on the sprinkles :)
I'm a pretty calm, grounded person, well so I've been told. I don't bring chaos or stress to your day, I bring the opposite. The couples I connect with most are the ones who value that. They don't want someone barking directions at them. They want to feel at ease, be themselves, and trust that the moments that matter are being noticed.
That's what I do. I pay attention.
Not just to the light or the composition but to the look you give each other when you think no one's watching. To the deep breath before the first look. To the laugh that only happens when you're completely comfortable.

WHERE DO WE EVEN START!? Woweee! We cannot thank Dave (and Cobii) enough for their amazing service in the lead up to the big day, during & post. Dave has this natural ability to make everyone smile and feel calm on a day that most people would usually feel stressed & overwhelmed. He exceeded our expectations!!!!
